Ingredients:
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Dry Red Chilli – 4 to 5
- Garlic – 10 cloves
- Tomatoes – 5 large chopped
- Salt to taste
- Sugar – 1 tsp
For tempering:
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Mustard Seeds / Kaduku – 1 tsp
- Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu – 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi – a pinch
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Method:
- Heat oil in a kadai. Fry dry red chilli till golden and add fry garlic cloves till golden.
- Now in the same oil add the tomatoes, tamarind and cook till it turn completely mushy.
- And transfer in blender and add salt.
- And grain till it turns into smooth paste.
- Now make tempering. Heat oil in a kadai. Add in mustard and urad dal. Add asafoetida and let it sizzle for a 30 seconds. Now add in curry leaves and fry it for 30 sec.
- Pour this over the chutney and mix well.
- Serve this with idly or dosa.
