CHETTINAD TOMATO CHUTNEY


Chutney is a sauce or a dry base for a sauce, originating from the Indian Subcontinent, used with the Cuisine of the indian subcontinent, that can include such forms as a spicy coconut dip, a tomato relish, a ground peanut garnish or a dahi (yogurt), cucumber, and mint dip.

This chutney i learned from Chettinad style its very tasty and we can take this chutney for long trip,It will good for 2 days so here am using gingerly oil .

Ingredients:

  • Tomato-3 to 4
  • Shallots or Small onion-5 no
  • Red chilli-12 no
  • Garlic-15 no

For tempering:

  • Gingerlly oil-3 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds-1tsp
  • Urad dal/ullundu -1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves- a spring
  • Hing/perungayam-1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. In kadai add oil, red chilli roast it till colour change and keep separately.
  2. Then add oil add remaining item (Here i wont cut the tomatoes ,i used full tomato definitely u fell the different in taste )cook till golden colour.
  3. Then take all ingredients in blender and grain it.
  4. Take pan add oil and tempering items and grain paste , salt cook till oil sucks out.
  5. And serve it with Hot idli,Dosa..
