JAVVARISI PAYASAM/SABUDANA KHEER/SAGO KHEER


Sago Kheer is a sweet Kheer made by boiling Sago with either water or milk .and adding sugar free and sometimes additional flavourings. It is made in many cultures with varying styles, and may be produced in a variety of ways.

They are two varieties of sago , nylon sago and milk white sago.Here am using milk white sago and with milk .soon i vl published kheer with  using nylon sago also.and i use ordinary milk and we can use coconut milk instead of ordinary milk soon i vl add coconut milk sago kheer in my blog.

Ingredients:

Sago / Sabudana / Javvarisi – 1 cup
Milk – 750 ml
Sugar –3 tbsp 
Salt -1 pinch
Cardamom Powder / Yelakai podi – 1 tsp
Nuts – 3 tbsp(I used cashews, pista, almonds)
Ghee – 1 tsp optional
Water-as required

Method:

  1. Wash sago well in water, Cover them with fresh water and soak them in water for a hour. Now it must have doubled in size.
  2. Take milk in a sauce pan, bring it to boil. Simmer till it has reduced a little. It will take around 15 mins.
  3. Now add Water and soaked sago mix well. Simmer the flame and cook for 20 mins.
  4. Now add in  boiled milk, sugar and mix well.
  5. Once it is mixed up, add in cardamom powder, pinch salt to enhance the sweet in kheer and nuts. If you wish, heat ghee and fry up the nuts and add it in.
  6. Mix well and serve warm or cold.

1)Take a sago in bowl and cleaned up and pour water, soaked for 1 hours its was double in size.


2)Take milk in pan and boiled it

3)Take a hot water and add soaked sago and cook for 20 min till sago cook well


4)Then add milk ,sugar ,condensed milk mix well

5)Add cardamon powder and pinch salt



6)Fry the nuts in ghee


7)Add nuts in kheer mix well

8)Serve warm or cold
