ONION CHUTNEY WITH PARUPPU/VENGAYA CHUTNEY WITH PARUPPU


Everyday Onion Chutney with paruppu Recipe – Vengaya Chutney with paruppu Recipe with step wise pictures.

Delicious and easy onion chutney made using very basic ingredients and can be made in less than 10 mins. So delicious with idli and dosa.

Onion chutney with paruppu recipes:

Ingredients:
  • Ullundu/Urad dal-2 tbsp
  • Tamarind-a small piece
  • Red chilli-4 no
  • Salt- as required
  • Onion chopped-2 no
  • Oil-as required

For tempering:

  • Oil-as required
  • Mustard seeds-1 tsp
  • Urad dal-1tsp
  • Curry leaves-a spring
  • Hing/perungayam-1 tsp

Method:

  1. First heat a pan with oil and add urad dal and tamarind cook till it turns into golden colour.
  2. Then add red chill in oil, roast it and keep aside.
  3. Now add chopped onion and salt cook till it turns into golden and caramelised.
  4. In blender first grain urad dal ,tamarind and red chilli into coarse powder.
  5. Then add onion grain into smooth paste.
  6. Then transfer into bowl.
  7. Heat oil and add mustard ,urad dal, curry leaves and hing. Pour this into the chutney and mix well.
  8. Serve.
