Ingredients:
- Ullundu/Urad dal-2 tbsp
- Tamarind-a small piece
- Red chilli-4 no
- Salt- as required
- Onion chopped-2 no
- Oil-as required
For tempering:
- Oil-as required
- Mustard seeds-1 tsp
- Urad dal-1tsp
- Curry leaves-a spring
- Hing/perungayam-1 tsp
Method:
- First heat a pan with oil and add urad dal and tamarind cook till it turns into golden colour.
- Then add red chill in oil, roast it and keep aside.
- Now add chopped onion and salt cook till it turns into golden and caramelised.
- In blender first grain urad dal ,tamarind and red chilli into coarse powder.
- Then add onion grain into smooth paste.
- Then transfer into bowl.
- Heat oil and add mustard ,urad dal, curry leaves and hing. Pour this into the chutney and mix well.
- Serve.
