EASIEST CHICKEN BRIYANI

Easy chicken biryani recipe in pot or pressure cooker with  step by step photos to yield delicious flavorful chicken rice under 30 mins.

Ingredients:

  • Basmati Rice – 2 cups
  • Water – 3 cups
  • Chicken -1/2 kg
  • Onion-2 large thinly sliced
  • Tomato-2
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 3 tbsp
  • Coriander Leaves-1/2 cup
  • Mint leaves- 1/2  cup
  • Thick Unsour Curd / Yogurt -1 cup
  • Red chilli powder – 2 tsp or to taste
  • Garam Masala powder – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder / Malli podi – 1 tbsp
  • Oil –3 tbsp
  • Ghee – 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon Juice as needed 

For seasoning:

  • Brinji Ilai – 1
  • Stone flower- little bit
  • Pattai/cinnamon-1 inch
  • Lavangam/cloves-3 no
  • Mace/japathri -1 no
  • Cardamon/elaikai-2 no
Method:


  1. Wash and Soak the basmati rice for around 30 min,Then drain it and set aside.
  2. In a pressure cooker heat oil and crackle all the seasoning ingredients .
  3. Add in the onion and mint leaves fry on a low heat till brown.
  4. Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.
  5. Add in tomatoes cook till it turns into mushy
  6.  And add all spice powders Mix this well.
  7. Now throw in the chicken pieces and add yogurt mix well and saute it for 10 mins till the chicken is well coated in the masala.
  8.  Pour in 3 cups of water and season with some salt and mix well.
  9. Now bring this mixture to a boil and add basmati rice mix well.
  10. Add coriander and mint leaves mix well
  11. You can squeeze some lemon juice at this point and mix well.
  12. Again allow to boil well.once it reaches a boil, then close and  cook for 15 min in a low flame.
  13. Once 15 mins is over, switch off the flame and Open the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.
  14. Serve the briyani with raita.
